PORTFOLIO
My work is concerned with both ephemeral and lasting things. These opposing categories, which include natural and human-made objects, mean that things find their way into my paintings because of their patterns, colors, and the way positive and negative forms interact as I place them in relationship to each other. Objects that might have come from the street or the desert are equally compelling because of characteristics that I find interesting or aesthetically pleasing. The newest work is even more about objects serving as metaphors for human interactions.
As someone who values the written and spoken word as much as visual imagery, my goal is to create images that are meaningful, beautiful (in the best sense of the word), and such that viewers choose to come back, over and over again, to discover the nuances of the stories and questions embedded within each piece.
